More cyclists, more speeding drivers and more deaths: How North Yorkshire’s roads have changed during lockdown

Robert Goulding. You have to drive on the Dales roads with caution, something which many drivers seem unable to do. However, cyclists could help themselves by wearing some day-glo and on the narrow road not cycling two or three abreast. Even around Halifax it can come as a shock to find cyclists toiling up steep roads as you approach a blind bend.

John Lavelle. Sounds like they need to take the “Cycling Proficiency Course”.

Jo H Hamilton. There’s so many horrendous potholes I’m shocked they even dare go on the roads at all.

Gerry Marks. The roads are not fit for cyclists, too dangerous.

Brendon Bremner Sullivan. Why don’t all these Johnny come lately cyclists do a test so they know what they are doing?

John Finch. Sounds like drivers should slow down a bit.

Chris Bentley. Dominic Cummings needs to get back to London, fast?

The invasion has been quite overwhelming, leaving litter and discarded barbecues – Jill Thorp

Linda Kelly. How about a petition to ban disposable barbecues? Huge fire risk and horrendous littering.

Linda Stoddard. I’ve walked up to twice a day around Scammonden for the last six years. Never seen anything like it, barbecues, food, food cartons and drinks cans everywhere, face masks, tissues and poo bags, gates left open. It’s shocking. Some humans really are a disease.

Jane Miller Norburn. There are two types of people on this planet. I can categorically say I hate the other type! I’m so sorry our rural communities have had to deal with this behaviour. It’s everywhere. My heart and soul is broken.

Dawn Cowley Chappell. Disposable barbecues should be banned in public places.

Janice Joyce. Disgusting the amount of damage and litter people are leaving behind.

June Merry. Until the powers that be start handing out stern punishments, it just goes on.
