Mr Bean helps world health body beat virus

-

MR BEAN has reminded people about the importance of social distancing, washing hands and kindness in a new animated video.

The public service announcement features the globally-recognised character struggling to pull down a rolling display board that has advice on tackling coronavirus from the World Health Organisation.

The board pops back up and hits Mr Bean before he successfully pulls it down fully to display the tips on “Mr Bean’s Essential Covid-19 Checklist”.

The checklist says: “Keep your hands clean and don’t touch your face. Keep your distance – at least one metre. Keep in touch with your neighbours, and be kind. Keep an eye on the symptoms and if needed call the doctor and follow their advice.”

The clip is voiced by Rowan Atkinson, who created the Mr Bean character when he was at Oxford University with the filmmaker Richard Curtis.

Atkinson also plays Mr Bean in the live action TV series and films.

Curtis said: “We are delighted to work with the WHO on this Mr Bean sketch and to support health messaging around Covid-19.”

A SPANISH minister has said there is “slight” concern from some in his country about UK coronavirus rates as Spain opens its borders to British tourists again.

Manuel Muniz, of Spain’s foreign ministry, said UK tourists will need to undergo a temperature check, a visible check and fill in a health form.

Asked if some people in Spain were worried about infection rates in the UK now being higher than in their own country, Mr Muniz said: “Slightly.

“But these are still low numbers of circulation.

“So, Spain is now a particularly safe place because we have undergone a very strict quarantine and confinement period.”

While British tourists travelling to Spain will not have to quarantine in the country, anyone returning to the UK would still need to quarantine for 14 days under the Government plans for nearly all new arrivals.

Mr Muniz said some 20 healthcare protocols had been put in place for the tourism sector, such as the availability of hand gels.

Spain announced it was reopening its borders following a strict lockdown after being hit hard by coronavirus.
