Man, 27, is third to be arrested over illegal rave events

-

A MAN has been arrested in connection with an illegal rave in the North of England which saw thousands of revellers attend.

The 27-year-old suspect is the third person to be held as part of a Greater Manchester Police operation set up after a 20-yearold man died of a suspected drug overdose and an 18-year-old woman was raped.

Three men were stabbed at two events on Saturday, June 13, attended by more than 6,000 people.

A force spokesman said the man was arrested on Tuesday, on suspicion of conspiracy to cause public nuisance and criminal damage, by officers investigating the event in Carrington, Trafford, where up to 2,000 people gathered on waste ground.

He was later released on bail pending further inquiries, the force said.

Detective Inspector Julian Scarsbrook, who is involved in the inquiry, said: “Since the raves at Carrington and Daisy Nook in Oldham, we have established a dedicated policing operation and are working alongside our partners to gather intelligence and protect our communities – this operation remains ongoing.

“We have now arrested two individuals in connection with this illegal rave in Carrington, and we remain committed to investigating all lines of inquiry available to us as we identify and pursue anyone involved in the organisation of illegal raves.”

On Friday, police raided a house in Salford and arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of conspiracy to cause a public nuisance and criminal damage in relation to the Carrington rave.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of criminal damage and public nuisance at the second rave at Daisy Nook Country Park in Oldham.
