Asda launches 30-minute delivery service with Uber
CUSTOMERS OF Leeds-based supermarket chain Asda will be able to have goods delivered in as little as 30 minutes after the chain signed a deal with Uber Eats.
The trial, which launches this week from stores in Pudsey in Leeds, as well as Birmingham (Barnes Hill), gives customers a choice of over 300 Asda ownbrand products and branded everyday items for speedy delivery including ready meals, fresh fruit and vegetables, beer, wine and spirits.
The service has been introduced to offer customers greater flexibility and access to a range of different meal solutions and essentials.
Customers can shop in the same way as they would when ordering from a restaurant via the Uber Eats app.
Once confirmed, the order is picked in-store by Asda colleagues before being collected and delivered by a courier using the Uber Eats app. There is no minimum basket size for delivery and Asda said if the trial is successful, the partnership may be extended to more stores later this year.
Simon Gregg, vice president of online grocery at Asda, said: “We’re pleased to be partnering with Uber Eats to trial a rapid grocery delivery service for customers in Leeds and Birmingham. This will give Asda customers more choice in how they shop with us and offer yet another way to quickly and conveniently get their favourite branded and ownbrand products delivered to the doorstep.
Customers can use the Uber Eats app to select from hundreds of items for delivery in the same way they would shop for a takeaway.”
