‘Fear drove voters away’

-

LAYLA MORAN said the fear of letting Jeremy Corbyn become Prime Minister stopped many voters opting for Liberal Democrat candidates in marginal seats.

She highlighted Sheffield Hallam, where Labour’s Olivia Blake took a majority of 712 in the General Election despite the Lib Dem pick Laura Gordon being expected to win.

“A lot of Tory voters in Sheffield Hallam voted Conservative when bizarrely that let Labour in,” Ms Moran said. “They were so scared of Corbyn they didn’t want to take the risk (to back the Lib Dems), but then they ended up with the thing they didn’t want.”
