All of Yorkshire’s John Lewis stores will reopen but eight nationally will be closed
Carol Cain. I love wandering around department stores, much more fun than online shopping.
Steve Clark. Basically restructuring, and to all those that say profits before jobs, go to the shops instead of shopping online.
Ben Greenwood. Profit on top of profit, employees seen as liabilities rather than assets.
Brendon Bremner Sullivan. John Lewis is owned by its staff, they are shareholders. It’s not a plc. They are restructuring to survive the future clearly.
Simon Holt. They will restructure, they have some very old stores that will be hugely expensive to manage / maintain.
Time to stop bailing out Welcome to Yorkshire – Yorkshire Post Letters
Malcolm Ward. The problem for Welcome to Yorkshire is the positives are not as easy to quantify as the perceived negatives. Instead of cutting funding, more research should go into identifying WTY’s contribution to Yorkshire’s economic wellbeing and publicising those benefits. As for the Tour de Yorkshire, as someone who lived abroad for many years, I know how TV coverage of the races opened many people’s eyes to the beauty of Yorkshire.
David Murphy Senior. And is a showcase through national TV for the beauty of our county. How much revenue does tourism bring in?
Gordon Specter. Tax/rate payers shouldn’t fund it. If it can’t stand on its own feet, then it goes just like any other business.
Kickstarters alone won’t reboot Yorkshire’s economy – Jayne Dowle
David Smith. Some don’t want to work.
Kevin Greene. I can see it’s going to be as bad, if not worse, than the 1970s.
Amazing photos capture family of mink beside canal in Hebden Bridge
Sue Bradbury. They are beautiful, but need culling as they are killing our native water voles that don’t stand a chance.
Linda Graham. They kill goslings, ducks etc. I worry about the otters too.
