Views sought on fire station closure
CLECKHEATON: A fire authority is seeking the public’s view on plans to close the station. The West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority wants to close the town’s fire station and replace it with a new base at the fire headquarters at nearby Birkenshaw.
The fire station in Cleckheaton is one of the oldest fire stations in West Yorkshire, and was constructed in the 1950s. Due to its condition, it requires a rebuild to avoid expensive repair and ongoing maintenance costs.
