Morrisons offering Yorkshire food box

-

MORRISONS HAS launched a Yorkshire food box to celebrate Yorkshire Day on August 1.

The supermarket group said the special box is packed full of the county’s finest products, which have been sourced from local food and drink producers.

The spokesman added: “Morrisons Yorkshire Box brings together classic Yorkshire products such as Grandma Wild’s Biscuits, Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese and, of course, good old Yorkshire Tea.

“The box has been designed to help customers support regional producers and celebrate the day in style.”

The Yorkshire Day Food Box is available on the Morrisons’ Food Boxes website now (https://www.morrisons.com/foodboxes/box/Yorkshire-Day-FoodBox).

A number of smaller businesses are also supporting Yorkshire

Day with special events and promotions.

Hillside Fisheries, known to locals as ‘Charlie’s Chippy’, in Ackworth, near Pontefract, has offered to provide fish and chips free of charge to all customers who visit the chippy on August 1 wearing a flat cap and accompanied by their pet whippet.

Customers who don’t own a pet whippet but still visit wearing a flat cap will also benefit from a 10 per cent discount on their total order.

The owner of Hillside Fisheries, Charlie Tipton, said: “The village of Ackworth was affected by the pandemic, and as a close-knit community, it was really unnerving for us to witness.

“We wanted to do something that would raise our customers’ spirits and Yorkshire Day seemed like the perfect opportunity, given that customers know us to be fun, outgoing Yorkshire people.”
