Clean break for rugby union club after the Rentokil team visit
TEAMS OF professional cleaners have been working to ensure a stadium will be able to host sport safely when rugby union resumes later this month.
Technicians used mistblowing detergent machines at Saracens Rugby Club, in Allianz Park, London, to spray liquid disinfectant to clean large areas of the ground.
The news comes as it is revealed that every Premiership Rugby match played behind closed doors will be shown live on BT Sport.
For the first time, every match in a round of fixtures will be screened live, when the Gallagher Premiership returns on August 14.
Premiership Rugby has confirmed that once crowds return to stadia, BT Sport will revert to broadcasting multiple live matches per round.
The Premiership will return after the coronavirus shutdown on Friday next week when Harlequins host Sale Sharks in a 7.45pm kick-off. Four matches will be shown live back-to-back on Saturday, August 15.
A spokesman for Saracens said: “Saracens is committed to taking the necessary steps to provide a safe environment at Allianz Park for players, staff, stakeholders and, when the time is right, the welcome of supporters.”
The club operations director Richard Gregg added: “As a club, caring for our people is at the heart of everything we do and the safety of our players, staff and supporters is of paramount importance to us.”
Premiership Rugby has confirmed that two people have tested positive in its latest round of coronavirus tests.
The league tested more than 900 players and club staff on Monday as part of its screening programme, which was launched last month to help contain the spread of the virus.
