Demand growing for homes at major regeneration scheme
DEVELOPERS HAVE reported strong demand for homes at the Park Hill flats regeneration scheme in Sheffield.
The companies behind the scheme say the development’s success provides reassuring evidence of a healthy property market in South Yorkshire, despite the uncertainties caused by the pandemic.
Guy Ackernley, inset, speaking on behalf of the joint venture partners Urban Splash and Places for People, said: “We have seen unprecedented sales for Phase 2 of Park Hill.
“In what could be described as the most unusual and potentially challenging period worldwide, and one that could well have adversely affected the housing market, we have sold an amazing 44 homes in five months.
“This is very encouraging and testament to the location, the area and to the quality of homes on offer.
“It is also exciting to see the Park Hill community growing.”
Homes in Phase 2 will continue to be released to the market over the coming months.
The developers said sales do not seem to have been affected by the pandemic, which has caused widespread economic disruption.
It is intended that new residents will be able to move into Phase 2 towards the end of next year.
Phase 2 will also include 20,000 sq ft of mixed- use commercial space, providing a variety of offices and work spaces as well as a new café, restaurant and terrace.
Park Hill is a Grade II listed building which has been described as a “beautiful brutalist masterpiece”. The majority of homes have south facing living rooms and outdoor balconies.
Phase 2 includes two- bedroom townhouses as well as one, two and three- bed homes.
Phase 1 has been completed, with 260 homes which are all fully occupied.
More than 700 people now live and work at the Park Hill scheme, which has won many property and community awards.
It was shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize in 2013.
