Fears over social care funding
EXISTING ISSUES with social care funding have only acted to worsen the financial picture, researchers found.
IFS experts said there was a shortfall of between £ 1.2bn and £ 1.4bn in 2018– 19, and trends suggest this could increase to between £ 1.4bn and £ 1.7bn in real terms by 2024– 25.
Health Secretary Matt
Hancock said last week that care providers will be given an extra £ 546m to bolster infection control and help protect residents and staff. However, the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services’s ( ADASS) president, James Bullion, said infection control money was “very welcome but very narrow”.
