City motorists are warned of hold- ups ahead

-

MOTORISTS HAVE been warned of congestion while two arterial routes to the west of Hull are resurfaced over the next six months.

Work gets under way on Hessle Road on Monday, with a full closure between Coltman Street and Marmaduke Street.

A diversion will be in place for buses and large vehicles, and smaller cars will be able to bypass the works using the side streets.

Hessle Road is due to be completed in February, while work on Anlaby Road will finish in March.

Deputy council leader Daren Hale said there would be congestion while the work took place so it was being done in stages to minimise disruption.

He said: “The works are taking place outside of the city centre, demonstrating the council’s overall commitment to expanding Hull’s transport network by investing in schemes to repair worn road surfaces.”
