Sport and homes plans are approved

PLANS TO improve sports facilities and provide more than 100 new homes in part of Barnsley have been approved by councillors.

The Hoyland West Masterplan will set a framework for a number of developments in the area.

On the table are plans for an employment site on land west of Sheffield Road, housing at Tankersley Lane, and the relocation of Rockingham Sports facility to Parkside.

Barnsley Council says residents will see benefits, including improved sports facilities, a new road layout, more jobs and businesses to boost the economy, and 100 new homes.
