RUGBY LEAGUE: Hull KR loose forward Elliot Minchella and Hull prop Andre Savelio have both been handed one- match bans by the Rugby Football League’s match review panel.
Minchella was charged with a Grade B dangerous throw on Owen Trout during his side’s defeat at Huddersfield while fellow Robin Savelio was found guilty of a Grade B offence of using his knees in a tackle on Michael Shenton during his team’s win over Castleford.
Catalans Dragons prop Sam Moa was also given a caution for a separate offence in the win over Wakefield, along with Leeds forwards Bodene Thompson and Ava Seumanufagai.
Castleford prop Matt Cook was told that his sin- binning for a dangerous tackle in the game against Hull was sufficient punishment.
Leigh have signed Hull KR forward Matty Gee for their 2021 Championship campaign.
The 25- year- old former Salford player joined the Robins from London Broncos at the end of the 2019 season and has made nine appearances so far this year.
Australian comedian and television presenter Adam Hills has been made an ambassador for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup in England.
Hills, who hosts Channel 4’ s The Last Leg and plays Physical Disability Rugby League ( PDRL) for Warrington, joins England internationals Luke Gale, James Simpson and Jodie Cunningham and former national captain Kevin Sinfield in being asked to raise the tournament’s profile.
He said: “I was at the Palace for the draw in January and was struck by the passion of the RLWC2021 team to deliver the biggest and best World Cup in history - if I can help with that journey, I’ll do whatever I can to ensure we get that collective success... as long as Australia wins each tournament that is!”
