Molly and support dog Chess to join ramble
A YOUNGSTER from North Yorkshire and her support dog will be virtually walking with TV presenter Adam Henson as part of the annual Children in Need Countryfile Ramble.
Molly, 12, who has cerebral palsy and labrador Chess will be setting off from their home for the ramble this coming weekend, which will be filmed and broadcast in a special Countryfile Ramble for Children in Need on Sunday, November 1. They will be supported on their walk by Mr Henson, who will be checking in via video to offer support and encouragement.
Molly said she “couldn’t wait” to take Chess on the ramble.
“Chess and Adam will support me throughout my ramble and help me through to the finish. I’m very excited to be taking part this year and I’m really looking forward to the challenge.”
The annual Countryfile Ramble, is organised to highlight the challenges facing disadvantaged and disabled children, with presenters of the popular programme doing one- to- one virtual walks with “inspirational” young people due to Covid restrictions.
The aim of Molly and Chess’s walk is to show the strong, emotional and practical connection between owners and their canine companions. The pair were matched last year by the South Yorkshire charity Support Dogs, which works alongside children and young people with disabilities to provide assistance dogs.
The charity currently receives a grant of £ 109,586 from BBC Children in Need, over three years. The funding helps the charity provide training for assistance dogs to help young people with a range of disabilities.
