A different role for mill once used in TV shows

-

A MILL which once featured in the long- running soap opera Emmerdale has been transformed in recent years into a thriving commercial hub which provides work for around 400 people.

The medical services company Technomed is the latest firm to move into larger premises at Sunny Bank Mills, in Farsley, West Yorkshire.

The Covid- 19 pandemic has led to an increased demand for Technomed’s products, enabling the company to double the size of its offices at Sunny Bank.

Technomed has moved from its boutique Old Engine Room premises to the larger 1912 Mill, where Yorkshire Television’s Emmerdale and Heartbeat were filmed.

Over the last decade, Sunny Bank Mills, has been transformed into a modern office complex which is home to 75 companies, which employ a total of nearly 400 staff.

Mark Pashley, of Technomed, said: “Due to the hard work and commitment of all the staff at Technomed, the business has been growing rapidly over the last few years.

“The global pandemic has provided an opportunity for us to expand our Holter ( wearable ECG device) mail order service.”

John Gaunt, joint managing director of Edwin Woodhouse, the owners of Sunny Bank Mills, commented: “The success of Technomed, and their expansion within Sunny Bank Mills, gives us tremendous pleasure. We are delighted that we have been able to nurture Technomed and provide everything the company needs to succeed, especially amid this global pandemic. Technomed’s move is a resounding endorsement of our development.”
