Pavement steps out to promote university through TV campaign

A YORKSHIRE agency has produced a television advert which aims to attract the brightest and best students to Sheffield.

Experience­d creative industry profession­als David Wood and John Simpson have joined forces to create Pavement, a brand and communicat­ions agency.

The Sheffield- based agency has worked on Sheffield Hallam University’s new TV ad, which hits the screens today, on Channel 4 and ITV.

A spokesman said: “The 30 second brand- led ad is the first creative expression of Hallam’s new propositio­n, ‘ Knowledge Applied’, and will be supported by a radio campaign.

“Designed to appeal to a broad audience including students, alumni, researcher­s, and the wider business community, the ad uses a poetic monologue with imagery representi­ng the university’s diverse offering, all shot in Sheffield locations.”

Mr Wood, said, “Hallam has a great reputation in the way they work with business and industry to deliver employabil­ity.”

Jacqui Robinson, director of communicat­ions and marketing at Sheffield Hallam University, added: “Pavement very quickly grasped our new brand strategy and what we’re trying to achieve.

“Involving us in the process throughout, they gave us a creative expression that fits perfectly with our culture and ethos to showcase the diversity of what we offer at Hallam, in the city of Sheffield and the region.”

Mr Wood added: “What drives us is direct involvemen­t in the creative process and authentic, collaborat­ive relationsh­ips with clients, grounded in the power of brand thinking and the impact it can have on people and their lives.

“Our work with Hallam demonstrat­ed how we were able to bring clarity to what really matters and get to results faster, with work that stands up for itself and clients who enjoy the process so much more.”

Pavement’s studio is based in the new co- work developmen­t, Spaces in Sheffield city centre, a few minutes’ walk from the train station.
