Lockdown rule breakers should be given criminal record

- From: Hilary Andrews, From: Alan Tidswell, Harrogate.

IN order for the current four week lockdown to work, everyone must play their part.

Those breaking the rules should not be fined, but instead have a criminal conviction. This would then be on their record and would seriously jeopardise any possibility of future employment.

These are tough times and tough measures are needed. The threat of fines has just not worked.

LIKE most people I was delighted to hear that we may have a Covid- 19 vaccine by Christmas.

However, on the news Matt Hancock announced that he and his team have been working on the roll- out for many weeks.

Oh well, it was good news while it lasted.

ACCORDING to an Ofsted report, closing schools and nurseries means many children have gone back to wearing nappies and forgotten how to use a knife and fork.

Seems to me that the Ofsted inspectors are apportioning blame wrongly here. These problems have nothing to do with the virus or Government restrictions, but everything to do with bad parenting.

ON Armistice Day, I watched the very moving ceremony and service in Westminster Abbey, remembering my father who had served in the Great War, being wounded, gassed and taken prisoner.

The service spoke nobly of the United Kingdom. How sad that, in recent times, it is showing signs of not being United. I think that the Unknown Warrior would be even sadder than I am.

MALCOLM Naylor ( The Yorkshire

Post, November 10) expressed his misgivings about the current measures to control and mitigate the pandemic.

He should be thankful that he can make his opinions public in this country without coming to a sticky end, as so many dissidents do in Communist states.

IF Matt Hancock is as well organised when ordering the Covid vaccine as he was when we needed PPE, then God help us.
