Character win needed by Bantams – McCall

-

STUART MCCALL has been around the game long enough to know that football can produce some surprise results when teams have their backs firmly pressed against the wall.

His Bradford City side are assigned with delivering that sort of moment against an O’s team who have scored seven goals without reply in their last two home league matches against Harrogate Town and Bolton Wanderers.

City make the long trip south without the services of a number of injured players and on the back of a poor weekend defeat at Salford City, with the character alongside the aptitude of McCall’s side likely to come directly under the spotlight this evening.

McCall said: “After the disappointment on Saturday, we wanted a game on Tuesday.

“There’s no excuses, we go down there and have got to put on a far brighter performance, there is no doubt about that and I am confident we will do.

“A three- pointer down there changes things. I look at so many teams this season going through highs and lows. One minute, they get beaten here and there and the next, they get a result.

“A lot of teams in our league – and all leagues, to be honest – are like that and are looking for something to change things.

“We might not be high on people’s coupons to get a victory. But when the chips are down, that is down to us as characters to stand up and grasp it.”

Last six games: Leyton Orient WLLLLW; Bradford LWWLDL.

Referee: S Allison ( Wiltshire).

Last time: Leyton Orient 0 Bradford 0, December 19, 2019; League Two.
