Touchline return is overdue for Weaver

-

GETTING BACK to the day job on the touchline is something that Simon Weaver will cherish this evening.

The long- serving Harrogate Town chief again watched his side remotely on Saturday – while he was isolating due to the Covid19 virus – but it is business as usual at Field Mill this evening.

He said: “I cannot wait. It just does not feel right watching the game from so far away on a computer screen, with the kids screaming in the background somewhere.

“It has been a frustrating time. I am not saying that I could influence the results at all. But it will just be great to be alongside Thirls ( Paul Thirlwell) back on the touchline.

Another who missed Saturday’s 3- 0 defeat at Leyton Orient was Calvin Miller, who was not part of the squad, with Weaver challenging him to fight his way back into it.

Weaver added: “We only take so many on the coach now due to the protocols of Covid and there was always going to be a player who misses out.

“Unfortunately for Calvin, it was him.

“It is never good to give any news like that to a player. But we are looking for a reaction from all the players and everyone has been left out at one point.

“It is about finding out about people’s character and how they fight back and there is a route back into the team for Calvin, without a doubt.”

Last six games: Mansfield DDWWWD; Harrogate LLWLDL.

Referee: C Boyeson ( East Yorkshire).

Last time: The two clubs have never played in a competitive fixture.
