Hopes of solution to 15 years of power cuts

ENERGY: A company believes it has found the source of a power cut problem which has plagued residents in part of Calderdale for up to 15 years.

Residents in Hipperholm­e, Halifax, say they have had power cuts for years. A spokeswoma­n for Northern Powergrid confirmed that the company has identified and replaced a faulty circuit breaker device following an investigat­ion.

ITV NEWS political editor Robert Peston will show off his vocal talents as one of the celebrity contestant­s on the rebooted All Star Musicals.

The journalist, who hosts the broadcaste­r’s flagship political programme, has signed up to appear in the one-off special, according to reports.

Peston, 60, has previously appeared as a guest host on comedy panel show Have I Got News for You and in 2017 made a cameo in a short film sequel to Love Actually for Red Nose Day.

Six famous faces will embark on a musical theatre masterclas­s before taking to the stage to perform a hit musical number in a bid to impress a virtual audience, as well as a panel of critics. The special, produced by Multistory Media, will also feature a performanc­e from John Barrowman.

SPAIN: Several hundred protesters have marched in the city of Barcelona against a crackdown which followed a violent outcry over the imprisonme­nt of Pablo Hasel, who is an anti-establishm­ent rapper.

The march took place amid a heavy police presence, winding through several avenues of the Catalan regional capital.

Protesters walked behind a banner that called for the release of Hasel and his jailed supporters.
