Put this road back on track Feedback

- From: Peter Judge, Tofts Grove Gardens, Rastrick, Brighouse.

SLOGANS and soundbites seem to work, so here is one: “Get Bringroad Done”. The slogan may be tongue in cheek, but the intention is sincere. It is time to get the Brighouse Ring Road (“Bringroad”) finished. This was started in the 1960s; but left, since then, unfinished.

At the moment there are consultations ongoing about improvements to the A641. Anyone who has ever driven along the A641 (the main road from Huddersfield to Bradford) will know that the major bottleneck is at Brighouse. So Get Bringroad Done!

Blame Tories for abolishing free TV licences for over-75s – Yorkshire Post Letters

Anthony Lawton. They allowed the BBC to increase the licence (tax) above inflation on the understanding the BBC absorb the free licence fee (tax) after 10 years. Better if the BBC went selffinancing, bringing it into the real world.

Paul Greathead. The only ones to blame are the BBC – not the Government.

Doug Manning. It’s 43p per day.

Pat Hargreaves. Extra money for the BBC to pay inflated salaries to their old pals who have little or no talent.

Gillian Worton. It was the BBC that took over from the Government and have now cancelled the free licence.

Neil Parker. The Tories have snatched the free licence fee off the pensioners, just like they snatched the free milk from the kids in the 70s.

Yorkshire MP suggests better regulation of the press to protect more women like Meghan Markle

Felicity Zeb. Part Two of the Leveson Inquiry should be launched.

Darren Tilby. Great idea.

Kevin Doo. What about high profile men? Is Holly Lynch MP discriminating against half her constituents?

Nancy Holdsworth. I think it is the rest of the world who need protecting from Meghan.

Si Birchall. Everyone should have a proper pay rise. NHS has had a 12.8 per cent over the last three years – shop workers, firemen and carers need one.

Yvonne Pinfield. Totally agree.

Zdzislaw Kozlowski. No more clapping? Don’t think it was an empty gesture. At least it was genuine.

Boris Johnson ‘devoted to levelling up across the entire country’

Trish Scott. Does anyone actually believe anything that Boris Johnson spouts? More fool them if they do.

Dave Cooper. As long as that area voted Tory.
