Yorkshire strike a lucrative kit deal with Nike

- CHRIS WATERS

YORKSHIRE have signed a four-year deal with leading sportswear brand Nike to be their official kit supplier.

The deal, believed to be worth a significant six-figure sum to the club, represents a major coup and will see the Yorkshire men’s and women’s teams wear the famous brand from this season onwards.

David Willey, the Yorkshire T20 captain and England allrounder, provided input into the T20 design.

“I am really excited that the club will be partnering with Nike from this season,” he said. “The players are always proud to wear a Yorkshire shirt, and it is important to look and feel the part when playing.

“In terms of design for the T20 kit, I wanted something representative of the brand of cricket that I would like the lads to play this summer. It is bold and leaves an impression, and has gone down very well with the squad.”

The T20 strip is a striking light blue, while the County Championship sweaters will feature the traditional dark blue, light blue and yellow trim for capped players. The One-Day Cup shirts will sport collars.

Lauren Winfield-Hill, the England, Yorkshire and Northern Diamonds’ star, said: “I love this season’s kit and I can’t wait to wear Nike for Yorkshire and the Northern Diamonds.

“Having a bespoke fit for the women’s squads is really important as the game continues to grow. We cannot wait to get back out there from May for what will be another big summer for women’s cricket.”

Replica shirts and training wear are available to pre-order from the club’s online shop. A wider range of Nike merchandise will be launched soon, including Yorkshire hoodies and t-shirts.
