Firearms officer accused of stalking colleague faces police misconduct hearing

-

A YORKSHIRE firearms police officer accused of stalking a colleague while at work and off-duty is to face a misconduct hearing.

Humberside Police officer Benjamin Robinson is alleged to have stalked his colleague between September 22, 2018 and April 23, 2019.

On one occasion, on October 20, 2018, when he should have been on duty at a police station performing his firearms role, he was located and challenged by police officers who saw him peering over the wall at the alleged victim’s property while he was wearing police uniform and carrying a police issued firearm. The other allegations include six other incidents in which Pc Robinson was said to be “in close proximity of the officer’s property without reason for being there” on dates between February 18, 2019, and April 21, 2019.

Pc Robinson is also accused of using the police computer database to find out the owners of vehicles all associated with the officer in question.

This is alleged to have happened on nine different occasions between August 3, 2018 and April 20, 2019.

On November 22 last year, Pc

Robinson pleaded guilty at York Magistrates’ Court to breaching the Data Protection Act between October 1, 2018, and April 21, 2019.

It is now alleged that his conduct breached the Humberside Police Standards of Professional Behaviour in relation to “discreditable

conduct”, “orders and instructions”, “duties and responsibilities” and “confidentiality”.

Those breaches could amount, either individually and/or cumulatively, to gross misconduct, which could result in him being dismissed from the force. A misconduct hearing will take place at Goole Police Station today at 1pm.

Pc Katie Babington, of the same force, was found guilty of gross misconduct last week after she drunk “intoxicating liquor” while at work. The officer would have been sacked had she not already resigned.
