Bradford say sorry after game postponed
BRADFORD City have apologised to fans after their match at Barrow was postponed.
The pitch in Cumbria was deemed unplayable by officials after an inspection just over an hour before the 15:00 GMT kick-off.
A Bradford statement read: “Match referee Tom Nield arrived at the SO Legal Stadium and inspected the playing surface, deeming it unplayable.
“We would like to take this opportunity to apologise to the supporters who travelled with us to Barrow for the inconvenience.”
Barrow have said they will complain to the EFL.
“We're very disappointed that the match officials have called today's match off,” a Barrow statement said.
“We believe the pitch is in a playable state and are extremely disappointed by this outcome. We'll put a complaint towards the EFL.”
Bradford sit five points adrift of the play-offs with a game in hand on seventh-placed Gillingham.
Sixth-placed Barrow held an open training session on the Holker Street pitch.
Speaking to BBC Radio Cumbria, Barrow boss Pete Wild said: “I actually offered Bradford to train in the other half of the pitch and we could maybe have had a training game – Graham (Alexander, Bradford boss) was up for it but he thought it might not be great with the Football League, and I understand that.
“I'm really baffled, disappointed, frustrated with the conclusion today.
“To be called off in the manner it's been called off – I think both sets of fans and clubs have been highly disrespected.
“I thought I'd seen a lot in football but I think today's just topped it off.”
