THE HEAD of a £150m turnover construction and logistics group has been given the top job at the Institute of Directors.

Stephen Martin will leave The Clugston Group, where he has been chief executive for the last decade, later this year.

The group, which has interests in construction, logistics, facilities management and property development, is headquartered in Scunthorpe but has operations and projects all over Yorkshire.

Mr Martin, who replaces Simon Walker, said: “I have found the support IoD membership provides invaluable in my role running a business based in North Lincolnshire, and want to further strengthen the Institute’s position in all regions and nations of the UK.”

IoD chairman Lady Barbara Judge said: “I am very pleased we have found such a strong leader to take over as director general at the IoD.”

John Clugston, chairman of The Clugston Group, added: “Stephen has been a most effective and loyal CEO and whilst we are sorry to see him leave the group, we are delighted he will be taking up such a prestigious appointment.”
