Presenters plan to look back on star sofa chats to mark 10 years

ALEX JONES and Matt Baker will revisit some of The One Show’s most memorable stories as the programme celebrates its 10th anniversar­y.

The BBC’s daily magazine show has been running since August 2006, broadcasti­ng over 9,000 short films over 2,000 episodes and during the course of next week the presenters will take a look back at some of those films.

Jones, 39, has co-hosted it since 2010 and Baker, 38, since 2011, touching on topics as farreachin­g as the royal weddings and births, major sporting events and the EU referendum.

Jones said: “There is added interest when huge celebritie­s come on and join in the conversati­on about what is on the nation’s mind that day.”

Famous guests to appear on over the years have included names ranging from Taylor Swift, Will Smith and Hillary Clinton to David Cameron, David Beckham and Sir Mick Jagger.

Baker added: “Over its 10 years on air The One Show has celebrated modern Britain in all its forms, so we are excited about looking back and catching up on some of the best stories from across the country next week.”

Charlotte Moore, the BBC’s director of television, praised the show as it marks its landmark anniversar­y.

She said: “I’m proud to have The One Show at the heart of the schedule, it celebrates the diversity of modern Britain and has been keeping viewers informed and entertaine­d with topical features and live guests for 10 years.

“I would like to thank Alex, Matt and the whole team for their dedication and hard work.”

Previous hosts of The One Show have included Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles, as well as part-time host Chris Evans.
