BEAUTY BUZZ with Bella Blissett

- By Bella Blissett

It’s hard to reinvent the wheel on cleansers. Yet Oilixia Gummy Facial Cleanser (£24, oilixiaskincare.com) surprised and impressed me. It is unusually thick in texture (think melted-down gummy bears); press it into the skin using your fingers and the result is a suction-like feeling that lifts and sculpts as it cleanses. Add a drop of water and it morphs into a milky liquid that rinses off easily, leaving skin perfectly clean and so plump that I felt as though I’d had a facial. So square that it’s as if their corners have been measured with a protractor, eyelash-kissing fringes are back thanks to Versace’s S/S 17 show (below). Take a tip from hairstylist Eugene Souleiman and temper the sharpness of the cut with softness and shine. Achieve this by prepping damp hair with Wella EIMI Perfect Setting Lotion Spray before blow-drying (£10.20, Wella Salons nationwide, wella.com). Now, snip snip!

Cue Cupid

It was Diana Vreeland (left) – the eccentric former editor of American Vogue – who said, ‘You don’t have to be born beautiful to be wildly attractive.’ The funny thing about scent is that unlike makeup, which makes an instant, visible difference, perfume is subtle, invisible and evolves over time. So, really, it’s just like love. Happily, with Valentine’s Day nearing, it’s the ideal time to ask your loved one for a new scent. Created by the late editor’s grandson, Diana Vreeland Parfums has launched Wildly Attractive, an exotic medley of orange blossom, mandarin and jasmine sambac (£135, harrods.com). Niche perfumery brand Art de Parfum’s Excentrique Moi is bitter, sweet, earthy and sensual all in one, with pepper, clove buds, black tea and musk (£108, artdeparfum.com). If traditionalism wins your heart every time, you’ll love Jo Malone Red Roses Floral Box –a romantic scent nestled in a box of freshly cut flowers (£130, selfridges.com, from Tuesday).
