AUSSIE SUNSHINE, LONDON COOL

-

Nicky Zimmermann (left) started making dresses from her parents’ garage in Sydney when she was 16, selling them to a loyal fanbase of girlfriends. Fast forward and her brand Zimmermann is one of the world’s most successful summer-wear labels. But it caters for more than the Aussie sunshine: London’s Bruton Street store, which opens on Thursday, will stock autumn-friendly pieces alongside its pretty, signature dresses. zimmermannwear.com. WHAT DO YOU WEAR WHEN YOU HAVE FIVE MINUTES TO GET READY? One of our long printed chiffon dresses. They feel relaxed and super-feminine. My day can change hourly so I need something I can dress up or down. THE ITEM THAT YOU WILL NEVER THROW AWAY? A straw panama hat which I take everywhere with me: growing up in Australia you learn how important it is to stay protected from the sun. THE COLOUR YOU WEAR MOST? I am into blush shades at the moment. They lift your complexion. Much needed with all the travelling I’m doing. THE SHOP WHERE YOU COULD SPEND THE MOST TIME AND MONEY? We don’t have a wide choice in Sydney so I shop online a lot. I spend far too much time and money on Net-a-Porter! SOMETHING YOU’LL NEVER WEAR BUT WISH YOU COULD? Anything short. A TREND YOU JUST DON’T GET? I’ve never liked skin-tight body-hugging dresses. HANDBAG OF CHOICE? I love the new Céline bag I bought a few weeks ago. WHAT WILL YOU PACK FOR YOUR SUMMER GETAWAY? I’m off to Mykonos with my family so I’ll be packing our one pieces, as well as sunglasses from our collaboration with Cutler and Gross. I’ll also take a few hats from our Hatmaker x Zimmermann range. ON YOUR WISH LIST FOR WINTER? I want to keep splashing out on things for summer first! But when winter comes, I know I’ll need some new boots and I always find a style I like at Balenciaga. WHO SHOULD WE FOLLOW ON INSTAGRAM? Athena Calderone (@eyeswoon) for lifestyle inspiration – she has the most fabulous home. MOST OVERUSED EMOJI? It’s always the thumbs up.
