Bring us sunshine!

Frombronzerto body oil, meet the summer-day go-tos I’m loving right now

-

As essential as peony season for me, the annual launch of the

Bronze Goddess limited edition collection from Estée Lauder is also a key calendar marker that summer’s coming. The Summer Look Palette (6, £45) is always a stylish burst of shimmering and matt shades (this time in blues and golds) of eyeshadow that make you want to pack a beach bag and go somewhere (anywhere!). There’s an annual twist on the classic Bronze Goddess Fragrance (4, £44, esteelauder.co.uk) – this year’s is

Azur with added notes of lemon and mandarin for a citrus burst to represent the Côte d’azur. It’s truly lovely but I always default to the original fragrance with its notes of bergamot, frangipani and jasmine.

Michael Kors eau de parfum (1, £49, theperfumeshop.com) is a classic and another of those perennial aromas of sunshine and escapism, so much so that I only wear it in summer months. Sniff its notes of orange flower, rose and fig and you’ll see what I mean.

A new unisex fragrant summer essential is Dior Eden-roc

(5, £220, dior.com), which captures the glorious shimmering sea and sunbeams of one of my favourite places, Cap d’antibes, and that most illustrious of old-world glamour hotels, Hôtel du Cap-eden-roc, by blending pine, jasmine and coconut.

Body oils are also a key part of summer beauty for me.

Nars Monoi Body Glow II (2, £45, harveynichols.com) is a clear

version of the original tinted oil and is like liquid tiare flowers in a bottle. The Tom Ford Soleil Blanc Shimmering Body Oil

(10, £75, tomford.co.uk) is always available but for me is a summer holiday buy. The white florals and amber fragrance are sumptuous and the shimmer is delicate. It’s wonderful for dressing up evening limbs on show. Another classic that should never be overlooked is Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Dry Oil (9, £29.50, uk.nuxe.com), currently

housed in artist-decorated limited-edition bottles. It can be used on face, body and hair and for many it’s a signature summer fragrance with its mix of orange blossom, magnolia and vanilla.

I’m a year-round bronzer user but always a sucker for a summery limited-edition of a favourite. Guerlain Terracotta Light Bloom (7, £39 from 1 June, johnlewis.com) comes with gold pigment for added dazzle and a swirl of pink blush at its centre.

Meanwhile, Clarins’s seasonal matt Summer Bronzing Compact (3, £32, clarins.co.uk) comes with a watermelon-inspired design which is also mirrored in the pressed powder inside.

And what would summer beauty be without a glittering lipgloss? I like L’oréal Paris Brilliant Signature Plumping Gloss (8, £9.99, boots.com). I can’t claim my lips seem fuller but it’s hydrating, isn’t sticky – and fun! @edwinaingschambers
