BUYING A HORSE is a huge commitment and we know you don’t need us to tell you that. It takes time, dedication and effort, and that’s all before you’ve brought the new horse home. It’s then that the hard work really begins! That’s why we take this competition very seriously. We’ve been through the process many times and we know what we’re looking for in our winner. Someone with a true passion for horses, a rider who’s desperate to reach the next step, be that owning a horse for the very first time, buying a horse who can take them to the next level or simply someone who’s searching for their perfect, forever horse. Every applicant has a different reason for entering so our number one tip is to be clear about what it is you want to achieve and to be sure to tell us why you’d be the right person to take the Win A Horse crown. Make it through the initial application stage and you’ll move on to the semi- fifinal. It’s at this point we’ll meet you, see you ride and spend time chatting with you. This will be your best chance to show us why you should win and you only get this chance once. Want some handy hints? Here you go: 1 If there’s anything you’re unsure about on the day, ask! We’re not there to judge you, we’re there to get to know you, so don’t be afraid to ask us questions, even if you think they’re silly. We guarantee another semi-finalist will probably be thinking the exact same thing as you. 2 Make the most of the assessment day at Summerhouse Equestrian Centre – you’ll be riding awesome horses under the guidance of brilliant trainers and best of all, we’ll be footing the bill! 3 Be honest. We’re looking for someone who’ll give a horse a loving home for a very long time, if not forever! We need to be sure we give this incredible opportunity to the right person so we need to know you’re being straight with us every step of the way.
