FITTING COMFORTABLY?
The fit of your jacket can do wonders for your overall impression. A badly fitting jacket that doesn’t flatter your figure can make you look untidy, as well as making you uncomfortable. To check your jacket is a perfect fit, follow our five fitting step.
1 A jacket that feels snug when you try it is going to be tight when you ride, leading to straining buttons, gaps and a stretched jacket – never a good look.
2 Cuffs should be on your wrists. Bend your arms into the position they’d be if you were holding the reins. Sleeves should end at the top of your wrist.
3 Check the jacket length by sitting in a riding position. It should stop a few inches below your hip bone – if it’s too long it can make legs look short.
4 Move your arms and body about to make sure the jacket is comfortable and doesn’t pull tightly across your back and restrict your movement.
5 Wear your competition shirt when trying on new jackets then you’ll know if it fits comfortably and the two look good together.
