FIND THE PROBLEM
If you’re unsure whether you’re working your horse in the correct outline, consider where his head is. If he’s poking his nose out, you’ll have little contact with his mouth and his ears will appear much higher than the crest of his neck (see picture below). He’ll also appear hollow in his back and shoulders and find it difficult to engage his hindquarters. Continually working like this will teach your horse to work on the wrong muscles and he’ll also struggle to lift his forehand.
