RECYCLING HORSE HAIR
Throughout the winter, most horse owners have to tackle the task of clipping, leaving a mountain of horse hair to be disposed. But Hartpury College teamed up with Gloucestershire plasters, Stroud Lime Plastering Services, to use the clipped hair from 50 college horses in a historic plastering technique. Adding horse hair to lime plaster has been used in listed building for hundreds of years. The hair actually has natural strengthening qualities, preventing cracks in the plaster when it dries.
