Dina Name:

-

Age: 4 Breed: Warmblood Owner: Jasmine Head

Daily management: Dina is currently jumping in young horse classes and so she’s in hard daily work and is very fit. She’s turned out every day for at least an hour, but generally after an hour she’s waiting by the gate to come back in. If she has a day off or doesn’t go in the field because of the weather, she’s grazed in-hand. Otherwise, Dina is stabled in a loose box in an American barn so that she has contact with other horses. When turned out, Dina wears turnout boots and overreach boots. When she comes back in, her feet are washed and towel dried. Because her legs are clipped, they dry quickly. On the days she isn’t ridden, Dina is lunged or long-reined. Her ridden work is comprised of schooling, jumping and an hour’s hacking. Dina is fully clipped all year round, including her legs, and she has particularly sensitive skin so Jasmine ensures that she’s clean and that her rugs are washed frequently. In the midst of winter she wears a sheet, then an under-rug with a rug on top with a neck. “We have a hot wash and a solarium, so when Dina is worked we tack up in the solarium so that she doesn’t get cold. We wash her off and leave her under the solarium to dry before putting her rugs back on,” explains Jasmine. Being young and stabled can make Dina a bit fresh to mount, so sometimes Jasmine tacks her up and puts her on the walker before getting on.

Health conditions: None.
