Happy ever after
For HorseWorld, the focus is on creating happy endings and finding the perfect pony the perfect home
IN AUGUST 2015, HorseWorld, in collaboration with a number of other organisations, was involved in the rescue of a group of over 60 horses — all of whom were living in a state of extreme neglect. Most of them were starving and living among the dead bodies of others who hadn’t survived. The horses were running wild and had formed family groups. They were all totally feral and terrified of being anywhere near people. Thanks to the work of HorseWorld’s training and rehabilitation grooms, Enzo was one of the lucky ones. He was rescued from the farm and is now living his best life with his wonderful rehomer Judy Lancaster.
Enzo’s journey
“I collected Enzo on 9 September 2017,” remembers Judy. “He was a gangly 12hh, ginger two-year-old. I remember thinking to myself, ‘I hope he grows’!
“Enzo was very timid to begin with and I spent a lot of time gaining his trust. I would spend hours sitting in his field so he could learn I wasn’t a threat. Once he was more settled, I started walking him out and doing groundwork, and our bond grew stronger. “I’m absolutely delighted with him and how he has taken all of the training in his stride. After checking with the vets, he began learning how to be a ridden horse. I couldn’t be prouder of him.
“Enzo has developed into the most amazing pony with the best character. He pulls all kinds of faces and loves stealing goodies out of the tack room! I can’t imagine life without him. He’s my best friend and he’ll have a home with me forever. I can’t wait to see what our future together holds.”
