I used to ride a violent headshaker and found a cure that stopped it instantly. A good layer of Vaseline around the inside of each of his nostrils before riding. A much happier horse! Dawn Isherwood

Turmeric’s tops

My boy is nine and was lame a year ago. Went to vets for two days and they found slight arthritis in his stifle. He’s now on supplement­s and turmeric and is doing great. Pauline Burns

Is my horse overweight?

Our article on the Your Horse website about obesity and weight loss got you commenting…

This article is very welcome. My horses live out all year round, and over the winter months they tend to thin down nicely — not thin, but just a better weight. It would be great if show judges would penalise overweight horses more often, though. Harry Ziman

What annoys me is when it’s really warm out and yet you still see a large number of horses with turnout rugs on — it’s unnecessar­y. Melanie Derrick

I agree 100% and I have been guilty of having an overweight horse. Now that he has lost some weight, though, he has room to gain a little over the summer. Charlie Wheeler

I’m in Scotland and my girl could do with losing some weight. My worry is with lockdown — like many other yards, our yard has a ‘no riding’ policy, so managing weight is going to be even more difficult. Elaine McCall
