HOW TO USE SIDE REINS CORRECTLY

If you’re lungeing your horse using side reins, make sure they’re fitted correctly so that the poll is the highest point and your horse’s neck is arched forwards from the withers into the contact.

To achieve this, attach the lunge line to the inside bit ring and keep a steady contact with the bit, keeping your horse working into the outside side rein. This is very important as the rein contact is your communication with your horse from the ground and he must trust your contact. This will help greatly with ridden work later on.
