Blooming buttons!
Make a bunch of beautiful flowers that will last a lifetime!
Time: 1 hour
Skill level: Beginner
Felt in your choice of colours (we used shades of green, yellow, pink and purple) 5 colour co-ordinating buttons Matching cotton thread Dark green florist wire (24 gauge) Hot glue gun
1 Start by drawing templates for your flowers and leaves on paper. Give your flowers five round petals.
2 Cut out your templates.
3 Take a piece of felt. Pin on your flower or leaf template and cut out two shapes.
4 Place the shapes together and, using colour coordinating thread, hand sew them together around the edges. You can simply use a running stitch or something more decorative such as a blanket stitch.
5 Repeat the above to make 5 flowers and 4 leaves. If desired stitch some vein detail on your leaves using backstitch.
6 Sew your buttons to the centre of your flowers.
7 Finally using a hot glue gun to stick a length of florist wire to the back of your flowers. Once dry, arrange your blooms in a long, thin vase.
