CARERS IN TOUCH
It may be six years since Doreen Carter lost her husband, Dick, but a certain piece of music or something on the TV can still upset her. Doreen keeps Dick’s memory alive by having photos of him around their home and says she still talks to him. The mum of two, who has three grandchildren, has been able to move on with her life, but says as well as family it’s vital to have someone to talk to after bereavement. That’s how the Yours Forget Me Not group members support one another. “Being in touch with others really helps when you’ve lost someone you love,” says Doreen. “You have to have lost someone close to really understand how it feels.”
