Alternative BLT

This alternative to a lunchtime BLT makes a great brekkie. And a slice of toasted Hovis® Wholemeal, with its nutty flavour, is perfect for this recipe. Grill four bacon rashers and cherry tomatoes, for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, roughly mash one small ripe avocado with a fork and add lime juice and pepper. Toast a slice of Hovis® Wholemeal until golden and spoon over the avocado, tomatoes and bacon.

A kipper corker

Place 3-4 smoked kippers in a pan of boiling water and cook according to instructions. Meanwhile, combine 2 tbsp mayonnaise and 1 tsp Dijon mustard in a small bowl. Place lettuce leaves and kippers on top of each slice of Hovis® Wholemeal and spoon over mayonnaise with a dash of lemon juice.

Eggscellent start

Whether it’s egg soldiers that take us back to our own childhood, a poached egg on toast, or scrambled egg, Hovis® Wholemeal makes the perfect accompaniment. With health experts telling us how important it is to have a good breakfast, having a slice of Hovis® Wholemeal with eggs is a great way to start the day.

Get fruity!

At this time of year, the grocers are packed with punnets of gorgeous, juicy berries. And what better time than breakfast to fill up on fruit? For a real sweet treat, buy some raspberries and strawberries (perhaps from a pick-your-own farm) and lay a handful of these onto a slice of crunchy Hovis® Wholemeal toast. Add half a sliced banana and finish off with a drizzle of honey.

And finally... a classic

It doesn’t get much more classic than jam on toast! And at this time of year with plentiful fruit supplies you may even try out making your own jam to go with a slice of toasted Hovis Wholemeal – as good today as it’s always been.
