National Trust helps wildlife
Creatures such as water voles and rare butterflies, like this purple admiral, are to be given a helping hand after the National Trust outlined plans to create tens of thousands of acres of wildlife-friendly areas. It aims to create 61,000 acres of new habitats by 2025. At least 50 per cent of its farmland will be ‘nature-friendly’, with protected hedgerows, field margins, ponds, woodland and other habitats – allowing plants and animals to thrive.
