I’m reading my Name is lucy Barton by Elizabeth Strout. It’s an extraordinary story, set in America, about a girl who’d been brought up in the mid-West, married with children in New York, then she becomes very ill and ends up in hospital. Her mum, who she hasn’t seen for years, comes to visit and through her mother’s visit you discover all about her past and the family’s history. It’s beautifully written.
