More than two in five adults* are concerned about their ability to make important financial decisions in later life because of the risk of mental impairment caused by illnesses such as dementia.

Lasting Powers of Attorney

An LPA is a legal document that gives another adult you trust, whether it be a family member or friend, the legal authority to make certain decisions on your behalf, if you become unable or unwilling to act yourself. There are two types of LPA: Property and Financial Affairs which deals with your money and property and Health and Welfare where your appointed person can make decisions about your medical care. A Property and Financial Affairs LPA can be used while you still have full mental capacity, whereas a Health and Welfare LPA can only be used once you are unable to make decisions yourself, not before. Giving a trusted person power of attorney over your property and financial affairs does not mean they will automatically gain control over your health and welfare and vice versa.

A Will

A Will is a legal document which states your wishes concerning who you want to inherit your money, property and possessions. Making a Will is important if you care about what happens to your estate in the event of your death. Yours in Partnership with Key Retirement have a team of professional estate planners who can arrange both your LPAs and your Will over the phone.
