Flower power

On visiting my good friend over many years, I’ve noticed she always has flowers and plants in her home. One day my curiosity got the better of me and I asked her why. She smiled and said every time she and her husband had words he bought her flowers as a peace offering. We laughed when I said they must have ‘words’ quite often as her house resembled a miniature flower festival. Margaret Bell, County Down

Deer delight

My husband knows how much I love Christmas so I was delighted when he made me this reindeer out of odd bits of wood! He’s my star. Mrs Giblin, Penarth

Tablet warning

May I remind all readers that cranberries can cause side-effects in heart medication and some other tablets. At this time of year, please check recipes for Christmas cakes, puddings and mince pies as they often contain them. Mrs Chambers, Norwich Yours says: If you’re concerned about your medication and cranberries, check with a pharmacist or your GP

Background music too loud

I get so frustrated when watching documentaries about animals or travel as I often can’t hear the commentary over the music in the background. I wonder if anyone ever checks programmes for this before they go on air. It’s very unfair both to listeners and the people who do so much work to put the programme together. Does anyone else feel the same? Mrs McCabe, York
