The joys of being an older mum

-

■ Regarding the recent letter about the joys of being an older mum; after raising two daughters, much to my surprise I found I was pregnant again 17 years after the youngest! My daughters took great delight teasing me about it saying, ‘those talks you gave us Mum, wasn’t Dad listening?’

My late blessing was born when I was 42. We called him Daniel, which means ‘gift from God’. I enjoyed every moment of every day as we never had the money worries of the early days. This time I knew what I was doing and with all the modern-day appliances, this time it was a breeze. Yes I got tired more but I had more patience. The only grief I got was from younger mums who couldn’t understand why I wanted to go through it all again. So, ask me about being an older mum – I’d do it all again.
