Manners matter
I enjoyed your article on the importance of good manners. One day at a hospital, I saw a very elderly gentleman who asked me, ‘Where did you get that brooch?’ I told him my daughter had sent it from Australia. He said his wife would have loved it. I replied that when he got home he should tell her about it, but he told me she had passed away. Later, a lady asked me if I had spoken to her dad and said the conversation had really cheered him up. It showed the importance of manners – and I got a compliment because he said ‘Thank you for talking to me young lady’. I’m 75! Hazel Willis, Stoke
