QI fractured my ankle and was given a walker boot and crutches, but the hospital won’t take them back. Can someone reuse them?
Lynda, Yorkshire Yours says Due to the UK’s health and safety restrictions, many mobility aids often end up in landfill. However, Limbcare, a charity which supports amputees, has a recycling centre where parts can be sent for use overseas or sold on to raise money to mentor trainee prosthetists. If you have old, broken or unwanted prosthetics, orthotic parts or mobility aids (including crutches, frames and wheelchairs).

QWhy aren’t people aged over 78 eligible for the shingles vaccine?
B West, Wales Yours says You are eligible for the vaccine if you are aged 70 or 78 years old. However, if you were eligible and missed the window, you can still have it until your 80th birthday. Unfortunately it is not available on the NHS to anyone aged 80 and over because it seems to be less effective in this age group.
QI’m going on holiday but I’m only taking a small holdall. How can I refresh my clothing while I’m away without visiting a laundry? Dee, Chatham
Yours says Described as a dry shampoo for your clothes, Day 2 Dry Wash Spray instantly refreshes your clothes between washes. Available in original, delicates and denim. ■ RRP £7.50/400ml
QI live in a rural area and struggle to get signal on my mobile phone, no matter which network I use. Is there any way of improving this?
Mrs Carpenter, Lincs Yours says
You have a few options. Some providers have their own apps that can help (such as O2’s Wifi Calling). These allow you to send texts or make calls using your internet connection rather than call allowance – even when there’s no signal. You can also download the apps WhatsApp and Skype, which work in the same way. Signal boosters such as Vodafone’s plug-in Sure Signal for £69 can also be purchased, but only work if you’re a customer. You can also buy multi-network mobile call boosters for around £75.
QI’m trying to reduce plastic at home and I’ve been told I can get shampoo in a bar. Where can I purchase this from?
G Hobart, Essex Yours says Solid shampoo bars were commonly used before the invention of liquid shampoo. They typically last much longer than conventional shampoo and are believed to be better for your hair since they contain mostly natural ingredients that don’t strip away natural oils.
Online company paperplanedesigns.co.uk sells handmade and vegan, 100 per cent natural soap and shampoo bars. High-street store Lush (www. lush.co.uk) has a whole range of solid shampoos and conditioners to suit different hair types from £6.95.
