CROCHET COFFEE POT

A fun and easy project to keep the coffee in your pot hotter for longer

Materials:

Rooster Almerino Aran (50% baby alpaca, 50% merino wool)

1 x 50g ball each of:

305 Custard

310 Rooster

307 Brighton Rock

309 Ocean

302 Sugared Almond

303 Strawberry Cream

308 Spiced Plum

5mm (size 6) crochet hook Yarn sewing needle

1 small button

Abbreviati­ons: c-chain; dcdouble crochet, rep-repeat; RS-right side; ss-slip stitch; st(s)stitch(es); WS- wrong side

Finished measuremen­t: To fit a medium-size 4-6 cup cafetière, approx 31cm (12in) circumfere­nce

Tension 16dc x 20 rows over 10cm (4in) square, using 5mm (size 6) hook.

Method: Using any colour, make 46ch.

Row 1: 1dc into next ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end, turn. (45 sts)

Row 2: 1ch, 1dc into each st to end. Rep Row 2, changing colours randomly every 2, 3 or 4 rows, until

work measures 16cm (6¼in), or to just above handle of cafetière.

Do not fasten off. Make buttonhole and button tab: Make 5ch, 1dc into next ch from hook, 1dc into each st to end, turn.

Next row: 1dc into each st to last 4 sts, make 2ch, miss 2 sts, 1dc into each of next 2 sts.

Next row: 1ch, 1dc into each of next 2 sts, 2dc into next ch sp, 1dc into each st to end. Next row: 1dc into each st to end. Do not fasten off. Work dc around button tab by making 2dc around side, 1dc in each of the sts underneath to end. Make ss into straight edge.

Fasten off.

To make up:

With WS facing, sew a seam 2.5cm (1in) up from the bottom, leaving the remainder open. Turn RS out. Sew a button to correspond with buttonhole. Sew in ends.
