1

Start by emptying your wardrobe and creating piles to keep, donate, repair and recycle. If you haven’t worn something in the past 12 months, then you probably never will again. Ask yourself does it make you feel good when you wear it and does it make you look good? If you can’t answer yes to both, don’t keep it.

2

Ditch anything that’s difficult to wear. If it’s a pain to iron or needs particular shapewear (that you either hate wearing or don’t own) then let it go. Likewise, if you’ve been hanging onto to something because if needs alterations or repairs, then do them straight away or give it away.

3

Separate into seasons. We don’t mean having completely separate summer and winter wardrobes – our weather is far too changeable for that! However, putting away your really heavy knitwear or those clothes that you only wear by the pool on holiday will help to free up valuable wardrobe space.

4

It’s fine to keep hold of a few items for sentimental sake, but if you have a whole wardrobe full of them it’s time for a rethink. Wouldn’t you rather some of those precious clothes, shoes or bags were being worn and loved again? You could donate them to friends, family or a charity shop.

5

How you organise your newly streamlined clothing collection is down to personal preference. The simplest way is to organise by type and then colour. If you have the space, group and hang dresses, skirts, tops, blouses and trousers, but where possibe, fold knitwear to avoid it losing its shape.
